Shut Up & Listen 2024: Tom Feldmann
We set out north from the liminal sprawl
to parts great
and wide
to Isanti Spirits once again.
Tom Feldmann is a Delta Blues musician
and teacher.
Owner Rick Schneider is a teacher too
and a visionary
who’s running for public office. But today
he just rips your ticket on his phone
as music rolls off his porch
like a misty dream.
Tom seems so alone up there
until you turn around.
Kirk seems like a loner too
but really he’s just keeping his stogie polite.
These Blues are so capable.
All at once they raise you up
and tear you down.
And with my wide open eye
I am taught
by this girl
to close it away and be engulfed
in this, such the sound,
whenever I stop my click click click
even for a moment.
Especially once I’ve lost the sun
and on into the night
it goes.
