This sticker should be worn on the gas lids of every vehicle to serve as a warning that the continued use of that lid by mankind will eventually lead to its extinction.

Please, everyone read this book.

12.27
Another one from over the Summer, Jonathan Segel of Camper Van Beethoven performing at the Greenman Festival.

12.26
As the year draws to a close, I have gone back through my photo library to find what I may have overlooked (the past three postings are also from earlier in the year). These are infared black & whites of The Black-Eyed Snakes playing Greenman, very different from these photos which were taken at the same show.

12.25
Artist Kjersten DeGaia, is one of the artists that paints live onstage during Cloud Cult performances.

12.24
Dave Simonett performing at the Homegrown Festival in Duluth last Spring.

12.23
This was taken back in July of Adrian and little Mikah who are the husband and child of Cloud Cult cellist Sarah Young, when she gave me a lift to the Greenman Festival in Duluth.

12.22
Timmy making these girls act like this.

12.20
College girls all high and wild at a Turtles show.

12.19
Mark is the psychedelic hippyrock ringleader for Wookiefoot.

12.18
The breakup of the Dukes of Hubbard was one of the better things to happen to Duluth music in awhile. The Dukes were all great musicians, but they lacked a strong songwriter. When it ended, it freed Tim Saxhaug to focus on the Turtles, and many of the others gravitated toward Marc Gartman, an excellent songwriter struggling to get his work noticed. All he needed was a good band. They recorded late last year with Alan Sparhawk (Low, The Black-eyed Snakes, Retribution Gospel Choir) filling in on lead guitar. That vacant position was recently filled by another ex-Duke, Jimi Cooper, who has taken their sound to a whole new level. See them live and get goosebumps. This is a spectacular band.

Sample track: Faith and Words (3.9mb mp3)

12.17
Gomez with former Dukes of Hubbard bandmate Russ Sackett.

12.16
Banjo Dave tearing up the Cabooze.

12.15
My niece Greta leaning out to nuzzle her Uncle Casey, my brother. She's a shy one, so it's doubly cute when she forgets herself.

12.14
I was surprised at how despressed I look in this shot. Still, there's a humorous gleam in my expression. It says "don't worry, I'll live."

12.13
This was taken in the alley behind my bank. I had just taken the light rail for the first time and had been too inhibited to take any of the great photos I saw around me on the train... don't know why. I normally don't care if the camera calls attention to me.

12.11
Lori's tattoo, which isn't finished, is based on artwork from The Red Hot Chili Peppers's One Hot Minute album.

12.10
Tim had just sat down and was making the mental transition from socializing to getting down to business and performing.

12.09
A varient of the sparce German Lake landscape I posted early this year became the cover of if thousands' new record i have nothing. There's a really great interview with them on A=1/F Squared.

Sample track: Cymbol (6.2mb mp3)

12.08
This picture was taken in late October. She won, by the way.

12.07
The images on this site are numbered in the file name. When I was saving this image for the site, I realized it was number 666. Pretty wierd when you look at the photo. Creepy, in fact.
